    March 20, 2023 - Dégustation d'Armand Rousseau Charmes-Chambertin

    2011

March 4, 2023 - My first A.Rousseau. the nose is amazing- layered, complex Nd dancing between soil and red fruit tones. Palate is several notches down, missing the density, playfulness and length of the bouquet. Expensive for what it's delivering but thankful for chance to try

August 19, 2022 - Tasted blind in a Chardonnay / Pinot Noir tasting. Perfumed with sweet accents of vanilla, leather and earth, white pepper complemented with a mineral dimension. Nice versatility with the fruit becoming sweeter and more defined over time. The palate is fresh and juicy, still a bit of tannin, and dominant acidity. There is a nice follow-through from attack to finish, although in the end a bit of an abrupt end.

November 20, 2021 - JK's 50th Birthday: Compact, blue, actually pretty good weight. Pales slightly next to the 17 Noellat RSV. 93

July 15, 2020 - Side by side the 06 (which was fantastic: scored 94) this 2011 showed as a 2011 in a bit of an undesirable way. Greenness on both nose and palate, very lean, a bit stingy on the palate really. Not a bad wine but then again you look at the market prices and conclude that in this instance the consumer has other/better options.

July 13, 2015 - Lunch at the Rôtisserie du Chambertin: A blend of two-thirds Mazoyeres and one-thirds Charmes fruit. A gorgeous, expressive Rousseau Charmes bouquet of confit of red fruits, especially plums and red currants, with a violet top note. On palate, closer to the 2013 than the 2014, not disgraced in ranking third of the three vintages I tried. Sappy, fleshy and concentrated with sufficient weight. Flavours of small red plums, confit of red and black berries, subtle spices and a chalk finish. Refined tannins. A comparatively earlier drinking Grand Cru but give this wine a minimum of five years. The Charmes worked well with my Rognon but really sang with the Abbaye de Citeaux cheese.

June 4, 2015 - Ma Cuisin, Beaune.

March 15, 2015 - Very nice pinot fruit, creamy, intense; it's a young wine, of course, much to young, but quite forward and open, very clean with a good balance. Will probably close down soon and reermerge witg much more complexity, but this does conforim the vintages character, it is foir early drinking, surely. With Philippe Cambie at Søllerød Kro
