December 21, 2022 - Drinkable. Still some fruit. Tannins are gone.

June 7, 2015 - We really enjoyed this wine with roast chicken. Just the right balance of fruit and some earth.
March 15, 2015 - This was a nice rendition of Mencia. I didn't take any formal notes, but was impressed enough to go out and buy another bottle from Mencia.Recall had a nice fruit profile.
February 1, 2015 - Solid wine after about 30 minutes being opened. Started off overly dry and bitter, after a little cheese on the tongue and some air, it became round and fruity. Not much experience with Mencia, but it was a nice experiment at an end of bin price $5.
January 16, 2015 - Darker ruby red than expected. Fruity, cedary nose. Dry; medium bodied; soft to medium tannin astringency. Tart acidity on the back of the throat and slightly bitter aftertaste coupled with a lack of depth in flavor throw this somewhat out of balance.
April 27, 2014 - First taste was questionable.
The med tannins carry this longer finish. Dark fruit and hint of smoke. A little earthiness. For $12 this us a good value.
April 7, 2014 - Very dark, not clear. Almost black. Nose: blackberries, black currants, bit tart but sweet notes appear later. Taste: medium bodied with low tannin volume. Billberries, blackberries. Fruity with bit acidic medium finish.
March 31, 2014 - Medium-dark red with hints of brown in the glass. Nose contained burnt wood and spice hints. Dark cherry, blackberry on the palate, nicely balanced with tannins and leather in the finish. Delicious.
