Community Tasting Notes 3

December 20, 2016 - Lovely bottle of wine. Black Olive, a little pepper, underlying game, dark fruit really jumping out of the glass. Great mouthfeel to the wine, striking a great balance between the fruit, acidity and tannin. Long finish with some pepper to it. This has quite a few years left ahead of it.

October 24, 2014 - Grape juice purple. Lovely nose of wood, tar, dark berry, with hints of floral perfume. Tar is really in the forefront in a pleasurable way.
Enters smooth but tannic. Espresso and dirt. Just ripening blueberries are sneaking through on the mid palate. Long, warm finish. Only 15m decant. Will surely open up nicely with more breathing time, and definitely can handle much more cellar time.

(Saxon-Brown Syrah Owl Box Parmelee-Hill) Very dark ruby color; appealing, tart blackberry, tart black fruit, tar, black pepper, white pepper nose; tasty, roasted black fruit, black pepper, tar, violets, tart berry palate with depth; long finish (Shiraz clone 1 with 3-4% Viognier and a little Marsanne and Roussanne to help set color)
