Community Tasting Notes 8

November 9, 2023 - Fairly reduced at this point, which is a shame. Possibly premoxed. This is a shame, because beneath the reduction, you can taste that this was a well made wine, very well balanced, with good acidity, and good body.

If you have one, drink it sooner rather than later.

March 25, 2018 - From magnum. Good ripe orchard fruit with noticeable but reasonably well integrated matchstick that persists throughout the evening despite a decant. The palate is round with modest acidity. Good mineral and stony notes. Good now.

March 25, 2018 - Cassoulet at Bill's (Wilmette, IL): From magnum. Fairly reduced, with some heavy oak use here, but not as reduced as I remember it being from the last time I had it. Perhaps it's a format question. Anyway, this had lots of acidity and minerality, with the fruit playing a backseat role. This had all the hallmarks of what I like in white Burgundy, but didn't have too much depth or concentration.

December 23, 2016 - Extremely interesting wine, loved it. Very lightly colored so it looks and taste like it didn't see much oak. Flint, wet stone, and matchstick scream out of the glass and palate. Really profound. There's a diesel note as well. Medium plus acid, ripe green apple and yellow tree fruit. Very angular.
