Community Tasting Notes 22

October 3, 2023 - Tuesday after dinner drinks in the neighbourhood. My bottle which I tasted semi-blind. Drank in Conterno Sensory.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose reductive on first pour, dissipates to show medium+ intensity aromas of flower in dirt earth, red cherries, strawberries, sandstone minerality, hint of green stems. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), medium tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sandstone minerality, floral dirt earth, elegant red cherries, strawberry, spices. Long finish.
Very good quality. Feels more like Pinot Noir than Gamay actually. Quite seriously good in an elegant fashion. This plot is more sandy granitic soil.

January 27, 2022 - A lot of structure and deeper brown spice notes on this wine. After being 11 years old it had the relevant acidity level that still kept it all together. Went well with food, no complaints! £33 from Shrine to the Vine!

February 15, 2021 - Elegant nose, quite Burgundian. Wild strawberry, Earth, blackberry, leather. A touch of candy betrays it as a Gamay. On the palate still youthful, delicate and fruity (strawberry, raspberry). Low acid, medium tannin, but quite grippy in the front of palate. Long. GV.

April 8, 2020 - Burgundy red. In the nose, this is a bit muted, seems closed down. Quite stony, oriental spices, red fruit, tight and rather linear. In the mouth, this is also quite tight, noticeable tannin and acidity, but good balance, tobacco and spices. Round finish. This is closed down at the moment.

July 8, 2018 - Decanted for 30 Min’s or so, lovely aromas waftng from the glass, this is in its window now, still fairly youthful with the tannins, but drinking nicely
