  May 20, 2014 - No notes taken, but this had and absolutely amazing nose, true to the few other takes on this variety I've had. The palate was pretty rustic, with rough tannins. Too bad because a better winemaker could do a much better job with the same grapes. Still, I'd buy again for the compelling nose and serve it with something to ameliorate the tannins.

  October 4, 2013 - earth, leather, and dark cherry in a balanced, firm, medium-bodied sicilian red. less fruit-forward but equal in quality to their rosso.

  April 10, 2013 - Deep, yet transparent, ruby color. Earthy nose driven by soil, wet leaves, and leather, along with some black cherry and plum sitting underneath. Medium bodied and juicy, with good acidity, medium- finish, and bright notes of cherry, black cherry, cranberry, red apple skin, and orange peel. The finish is a bit short, but I like the freshness and acidity (the latter of which does linger a bit). Burgundy fans should enjoy this. Good with tomato sauces and lighter meats. Orange-cherry glazed duck would be rocking with this.

  March 24, 2013 - Dark "thick" color. Full fruit with a nutty finish.
