October 4, 2019 - Here I found a dark and slightly dusty expression, showing black cherry, with lifting crushed stone minerality, dried florals, cooling herbal tones and hints of undergrowth. On the palate, I found silky textures balanced by cooling acids, as polished dark fruits washed across the senses, leaving a mix of minerals with hints of tannin. The finish was long, showing it’s maturity, yet still lively, displaying lingering dark red fruits, sous bois, dark earth and salty mineral tones. Some of my fellow tasters though this bottle might have been slightly off, I just believe it needed a little more time to open up.

March 26, 2014 - Decanted 4 hours before drinking. Deep, rich ruby. Very forward black cherry confit with some green herbs sneaking in late. Round for Nebbiolo with wood giving it lushness and a chocolate undertone. Spicy as well. This loosened with more air but never came close to the point of being delicate. Love that fruit which should hold up for another 15 years. Maybe by then, it will shed some of its international style and become more Nebbiolo-like.

November 15, 2013 - Consistent with the last btl this was great, esp with pasta with fresh shaved white truffles straight off the plane from Alba. Not too bad for a Thursday night in the crazy suburbs! Color with little signs of age. Gorgeous nose, elegant mouth feel with great acid balance. Long finish with underbrush and forest floor. This is really lovely stuff. Glad to have a couple more in the box.

December 30, 2012 - This was stunning. Very classically styled. Dark fruits, tar, roses, leather, tree bark. Quite masculine. Long finish. Tannins still evident and I think this may be even better in 3-4 years. Really very classy stuff for a special occasion with friends who would appreciate it.

August 13, 2012 - beatiful mature Barb purchased at the farm in 2004. Holding up very nicely.
