December 17, 2016 - This 08 has started down the back side. It is still failrly full bodied, good nose of dark fruits, but a small bacterial taint is just starting to show. It is so faint that decanting would probably help, but I am afraid it will just fall apart if I decant it. After the second glass, I don't taste it, so all is well.
April 21, 2016 - After having so much wine the other night, I could not taste this, so I decided to open another bottle and give it a fair chance. This was a pale garnet in color. The nose was cranberry, cherry and raspberry. It had good legs, but was starting to separate indicating it is has probably reached its peak in age. The palate consisted of more cherry and cranberry along with a little clove, tobacco, light smoke and a little oak. The tannins were relatively low with fairly high acidity. It was simple, but fairly well balanced. As with a lot of Pinots, it left a feeling in the mouth of fabric, not quite satin, but also not as course as cotton. I thought the finish was medium, but as I write this, I can still feel it in my mouth, so I have to change the finish to a slight lingering long finish. I have to say, even though I like a more full-bodied wine, this was very good and I am glad I have several more bottles, but I also realize we need to drink them soon.
April 21, 2016 - To be honest, we drank this after several wines and could not give it a fair rating. The best I remember is I liked it, but I will open another bottle and try it first. I hope it is better than some of the reviews I have been reading, but I will know shortly.
November 26, 2015 - A little past prime.
November 10, 2014 - Tart...ffruit gone.
July 16, 2013 - Quite a bit of funk on the nose that took a while to burn off. Didn't do much for me
March 23, 2013 - I hate to write a bad review cause taste is so subjective but this is pretty bad.
February 8, 2013 - Shows the trademark '08 lush and velvety mouthfeel, but the emperor has no clothes. muted fruit and little to no acidity relegate this to ho-hum status.
November 15, 2012 - We uncorked this 2008 Willamette Valley Pinot for dinner.... We were not disappointed.... Another great wine from Oregon's 100 point year.....
November 9, 2012 - Dusty, earthy, cherry, medicinal (never a good descriptor for a Pinot) evaporative midpalate, and a lingering awkward finish.
