June 27, 2020 - Deep black to a ruby rim. Distinct spice, cassia root, Jujube fruit, overripe strawberry, blackberry paste, pastille, wine gums. The palate is soft and molasses-like, liquorice root, evolved tertiary, raisin, warmth, heat on the palate, relatively evolved. No really acidity and palate seem to sag as that molasses becomes sweet, almost a honey tannin. I certainly left it too long to drink it!

December 24, 2014 - Has definitely lost some of its richness but still going strong. I can't see this improving but it should drink nicely for another 1-2 years.

November 20, 2014 - Tastes like a pretty standard extracted Aussie wine. I know many aren't a fan of that genre, but I find it to be enjoyable and easy drinking (esp when not pairing the wine with food). Very fruity - deep dark berries mostly - raspberry, some blackberry. Pnp'ed. Not much evolution in the wine, but enjoyable start to finish.

November 10, 2014 - I was really impressed with this wine. It's been almost 10 years since I had this wine -- having tasted it with the winemaker in AUS. It has barely aged! The color is a deep dark purple/ruby color with only a hint of bricking on the edges. The nose is dense, deep, and incredibly aromatic with copious amounts of black fruit, licorice, white pepper, cocoa, loam, leather and just a bunch of other secondary notes. The fruit is somewhat hi-toned -- would guess some of it was sourced from cool climate vineyards.
Very complex, and not too jammy, big and soft in the mid-palate and a very smooth, lingering finish. This is clearly a wine that was made with care, meticulous, and balanced. My only critique, and this is a minor point, is there could have been more acidity to knit the wine together. I would have to look up the varietal composition to see how much Grenache is there... so glad I have more of these bottles -- long life ahead.

February 17, 2013 - Concentrated dark fruit and liquorice spice. Finishes just a fraction disjointed.

November 23, 2011 - Classic Aussie GSM - still ripe, jammy and juicy. Absolutely delicious! A gift from Captain Haddock who has an uncanny empathy with Mrs H's palate...
