  October 25, 2017 - Clear, medium intensity purple showing very little signs of age.
  Nose was clean and had pronounced notes of red berries, chinese 5 spice, menthol, eucalyptus.
  Dry, medium acidity, medium plus but fine tannins, full bodied. Flavours of red berries, raspberries, blueberries, drying tannins and some oak flavours. Finish was medium plus.
  Overall I really enjoyed this wine. It hasn't really moved much, possibly tannins feel a bit more fine compared to last time I had this, about 3 years ago. Didn't really go well with the food I had (8 course vegan tasting meal) but the wine on its own was very nice.
  1 bottle left and I think i'll have it in about 5 years time.

  June 17, 2017 - No doubt this is a charming wine. Full of pencil shavings, mulberry and oak spice. It is however a great example of the importance of tannins to give a wine definition - this just doesn't have any, despite a lot of time in oak.

  August 15, 2014 - Dinner at Park Palace (Park Palace, Grand Park Hotel): Pretty good. A classic Bordeaux blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 
4% Merlot, 
4% Cabernet Fran and 
2% Petit Verdot, this came serendipitously after a 2007 Tagnanello and provided an interesting contrast. Of course, there was a lot more Cabernet on this, and it showed in the notes of cassis and plums and tobacco on the nose along with slightly sweeter berries and earthy, eucalyptus smells that nodded towards Australia. The palate had a rather Antipodean feel to it as well, with fresh, lively acidity and fine tannins framing sweet, modern, but clean notes of cassis and blueberries seasoned with more of the eucalyptus picked up on the nose. A nice, lithe finish of mineral and spice then rounded the wine off. It will still improve with a few more years in the bottle no doubt. On the night, it lacked a touch of depth and complexity – both a reflection of the younger vines as well as the lack of bottle age I suspect. Otherwise, this was sleek and elegant interpretation of a new world Bordeaux blend, reflecting the cooler climate of high-altitude Tasmanian wine nicely. I liked it.

  January 9, 2014 - 7 Tasmania Wineries Jan-14; 1/9/2014-1/14/2014: {diam, 13.5%, A$35} Herbal greenish nose, with curranty touches. It’s 90% cab, with 4% each of merlot & franc, and just 2% PV. The palate is solidly medium-bodied, and tastes a lot more fruity and less green than the nose promised. There are low-medium soft chalky tannins, medium acid, and a fairly even palate. At te price it’s not too bad, but will surely be best within the next 5-8 years.
