August 12, 2017 - One of my more enjoyable Loring's in recent history. Maybe its the age, as the bright cherry, almost bubble-gum fruitiness that can be found in some of Brian's wines wasn't present; also no hints of cola which I also don't enjoy.

Followed over 3 hours, not decanted. Very ripe red cherries, hint of wood / vanilla, very floral and fragrant. Faint pepper, hard to tell if its green pepper veggie or black pepper spice. Really nice wine.

May 5, 2017 - Another great pinot by Loring. Poured a little darker than some pinots with vibrant cherries and some earth on the nose and palate. Was great by itself and even better with the grilled chicken. Great balance of fruit, tannins and acidity.

October 14, 2016 - Really disappointed that this was my last bottle, although I recently had a newer vintage and it shows extremely well too. Like any great Pinot this has the winemakers signature all over it. The fruit isn't over shadowed but highlighted very well.

July 8, 2016 - An outstanding Berserkerday purchase. Unscrewed and poured with dinner of chicken sausage and assorted veggies then followed for three hours. This was an outstanding Loring pinot. Probably not to the liking of those who prefer austere Burgundian style. This is very fruit forward, luscious and expansive presentation of pinot. There is a flavor that is common in port - I think it comes from Touriga Nacional - that is the essence of port if you subtract the high alcohol and you subtract the sugar, that I noticed throughout the three hours of following this wine. I know that description will be controversial, and people may say this is just an Aubert-clone poorly made Cali pinot that tastes like port - but they would be wrong. I have tasted the same flavor while tasting blind dry Touriga Nacional from Portugal. It adds to the red fruit profile without overpowering the other components.

Excellent balance and mouth feel. Dark color. As a food wine, this would hold up to moderately strong red meat presentations. Maybe not with a grilled porterhouse, but I think it would work fine with a nice beef stew, skirt steak or other similar items.
