September 6, 2015 - This wine is drinking beautifully right now. Subtle notes of fruit and mushrooms on the nose. Soft tannins and cherry flavors. Very enjoyable.

April 26, 2015 - colour still vigorous. Glorious nose, warm bruit brick and earth, impecble lift and balance. Beautiful elegance and balance on palate , this bottle perhaps lacking a bit of energy on the finish but still delicious

March 13, 2015 - A bit of bricking to pretty translucent red with a touch of orange. Initial nose of sandalwood, moist earth, shitake mushrooms. Moist earth and forest floor to start, which gives way to some plum, mushroom, cedar, tobacco. As others have said, a great mouthfeel - velvety and lush. This is a great wine.

September 10, 2012 - just a beautiful bottle of wine. colour still quite deep only a hint of bricking. ethereal nose, waves of black fruits cedar tobacco coffee and warm brick and earth. Sumptuous palate oozing class , fruit and structure perfectly balanced with a cornucopia of secondary flavours. This is gorgeous by any standard

November 25, 2011 - SO good, an unbelievable balance of concentration and elegance! 21 years old and still throwing youthful aromas and flavors, of course mixed with classic mature notes one expects from a classic Bordeaux. #2 wine from Haut Brion.

Color: claret red core, barely transparent, some lightening at the edges, brickish.
Aroma: savory coffee roast, currants and cassis, licorice, fresh for its age
Palate: savory truffles, mushrooms, forest floor, saddle leather, and currant, stunning concentration
