September 19, 2019 - Still fairly young but showing plenty as well. Lots of red fruits with some graphite. This has a long future ahead of it.

September 15, 2019 - Pale ruby with orange rim. Nose of wet earth, barnyard and cassis. Strong attack and strong acidic, tannins is smooth and balanced palate. The strongest earthy note I tasted so far, not much red or black fruit, long finish with a bit sweet taste at last. Aged well and need 20 to 30 min decant to open up. My first Cos, a special style that did not meet before, perhaps even better to serve with red meat.

September 7, 2019 - For me this was in a perfect drinking window. The bottle was well-preserved and the cork was in excellent shape. We poured through an Ullo filter and decanted for 20 mins or so. Nose was of soft leather, tarragon and fried peppers. On the palate, I noticed some black pepper, cranberry relish and dried cherry. The two of us drank it over some grilled lamb.

September 5, 2019 - This is not as developed as many of the left bank wines from 1996, but is now firmly in its drinking window. The nose and palate are all about dark berry fruits and tobacco with a faint cedar background developing in the last year. It is a very robust wine with prominent tannin, albeit resolved, and with a steely finish, but it does lack the elegance of the outstanding vintages. However, it is perfectly balanced with great depth in the mouth and on the finish. With its structure this should be able to last for the next 20 years plus, and as the tertiary flavours continue to develop, it may lose some of its harsher edges.

August 17, 2019 - Perfect wine. Owned and enjoyed many bottles of the 1996 in the past. Revisited today thanks to Joel (note below). It underscores why Cos is one of my favorite Bordeaux producers. Again, textbook.
