April 8, 2018 - PNP. cork perfect. color straw. rich fruit reminiscent of mosel riesling with some minerality. swishing shows serious acid spine, but the floral fruit keeps this in check. sipping shows great polish and fruit density with white pepper background - so dense that it that begs the question is there some RS? finish is super long. this is really very good gruner. i am interested to see how it ages but man it is going to be hard because it is so good now.

August 22, 2016 - 89 points? Really? A deceptively simple (complex) bottle. Gruner at a near-perfect level - not showy, but entrancing. Paired with baked, breaded, spicy chicken legs. Sublime.

November 26, 2015 - Nice, youthful, classic white pepper/stone fruit of Gruner. A hint of residual sugar. Solid, versatile wine. Perhaps could stand for a bit more depth, but then I have an off the hook great mature Gruner from Nikiolaihof a few days ago and unfair to compare.

June 6, 2015 - Grüner Goodness @ Weygandt Wines (Weygandt Wines - Washington, D.C.): Smells of lemons, limes, white pepper and pickling spices to me. Rich presence yet clean and clear, juicy white peach plays off a deep saline and slate aesthetic. White pepper, clover and a hint of hops, this is a complex and layered wine with a lot of time ahead.

December 8, 2013 - A private lunch (Restaurant The Fat Duck ***, Bray-on-Thames, UK): Fresh, light as a feather, touch of yellow fruit, white pepper, hint of residual sugar rounds it out nicely, floral topnotes, clean and mineral, a youthful joy.

August 30, 2013 - Young but already very enjoyable dry Grüner Veltliner wine from one of the best wineries in Austria. Extremely pale straw yellow color with greenish reflexes and an expressive nose featuring classic varietal aromas of white pepper, grapefruit, fresh herbs and a touch of flint. On the palate: a medium-bodied and elegant wine with juicy fruit components balanced by a fine lemony acidity and a delicate minerality. Excellent varietal expression on the harmonious finish. It gives great pleasure right now and probably 2-3 years on.

May 4, 2013 - Wachau Spring Wine Festival (Wachauer Weinfrühling) (The Wachau): A whiff of sulphur on the nose, but ripe pears too, echoed on the palate, good length. € 15. ***
