Community Tasting Notes 14

  • DBdeParis Likes this wine:

November 23, 2022 - Decanted off ample sediment into an aerating decanter, ran through a couple round trips. Smokey nose, rich black raspberry on the palate with ample barrel tannins. Based on this bottle this wine has a few more years at peak maturity.

January 21, 2022 - Decanted for 10 minutes before the start of dinner and was better after 30 minutes. This bottle was better than our previous bottle two years ago (1/11/20) - which was a PnP - as this bottle was more open and expressive.
Lots of dark red fruit, black fruit and spice along with some earth and a touch of black pepper. The acidity was quite lively, and maybe just a touch more than needed to balance all that fruit. This wine could hold for another couple of years.

September 24, 2021 - Decanted off sediment 1 hour in advance. Rich, ripe berry nose. Rich and mouth-filling on palate but short on finish. Acids and tannins have faded and is likely starting a gentle downward slope as it falls out of balance.

    March 13, 2021 - From magnum.
Brought to a dinner party and was just excellent. Fruit and vanilla in balance. Enjoyable and memorable. The party appreciated the local vintage.

January 11, 2020 - PnP. A nicely smooth and balanced medium bodied syrah with lots of dark red and blue fruits, balancing acidity, and totally integrated tannins. Could hold for another couple of years.
