May 9, 2018 - Great wine, ready to drink. Short decanted (1 hour). Typicall violet flowers and a bit of tobacco notes. Color is deep violet/red. Tannins are well integrated and the wine is very smooth in the mouth. Acidity is in control and fruit is slowly retiring. Drink now or in the next 3 years.

April 28, 2018 - From memory: Black fruit, liquorish, mocha and vanilla on the nose and palate. Concentrated, smooth and well balanced. Very nice, but at this price point I’m expecting a little more personality – like a photoshopped model, this wine is immediately pleasing, but won’t leave a lasting impression.

April 1, 2018 - From magnum and decanted. The class of this wine is evident. Aside from the Vina Cobos, this is the best Malbec I've had. One thing I'm noticing from these older Malbecs is the tanginess with the acidity a bit too much for my preference. Still wonderful to drink and is in an excellent window right now. The primary fruit still is at the forefront with bright prunes, black cherry, animal (game), and clove. Bright acidity with resolved tannins. I wish the tannin level was higher in order to warrant further cellaring and bring out the secondary nuances more but I'm afraid the acidity will continue to be more prominent. It's too bad because there are some stellar nuances that I suppose will never be in the forefront.

January 15, 2018 - This is my last bottle of this vineyard and vintage and white I enjoyed it, it unfortunately disappointed me, not living up to stellar ratings or my other AF experiences. It has a fantastic nose, with gray fruit on the body, yets a little unbalanced. Tannins are integrated and this is probably at or close to peak, but the acidity and tartness of the fruit control the wine. With a salty steak, come of that acid was controlled, but I otherwise it just got in the way of what could be a really good wine. Still a lot going on, but just not as balanced as others from this winery.
