November 14, 2021 - Second Sunday Group: 1990 Burgundies (Neil's): Double blind. Similar ruby/clear color as the first two. opens with notes of sour cherry and tea leaf. Balanced, with lovely cherry fruit and mineral. This has a plush velvety quality and my initial thought was Volnay. Seemed to shut down in the glass though, losing some of the depth I was hoping for and remained, for lack of a better term, straightforward, with cherry and mineral qualities. Nothing wrong here, just nothing to get excited about either. Would have loved to revisit this later in the evening, but with 12 tasters and sediment, there was none to be had following the tasting. 88+ pts.

    My #7, Domino's #2
    Group #3, 53 pts

April 1, 2017 - Wines Tasted at HDH Auction (Tru Restaurant - Chicago IL): Small glass, brief note. Seemed slightly older to start but rich and ripe with good concentration. Seemingly freshened up with a few more minutes in glass, without losing anything good.

December 23, 2016 - Basically stored in a fridge since acquisition upon release. Initially a surprising disappointment - closed, ungenerous - just maybe not much. Four hours or so in opened up with a generous silky red fruit flavor on the meaty side taking on weight. Like more than a few 1990's, my guess is more time will get it there.

April 11, 2016 - Very deep garnet color; purity of rich mature fruit, plummy and autumnal notes; after 45 minutes, continuing to open and really strutting its stuff! Classic iron fist in the velvet glove. Delicious. Natalie poured us this same wine at the Domain a half dozen years ago and this bottle seems just as fresh and wonderful. Completely avoids the over-ripe and roasted quality that befell so many of the 1990 reds burg.

October 4, 2009 - A much more tasty bottle than the last - is the dullness of the 90's going to wear off? Plenty of red fruit as in the last bottle, but much brighter on the palate. Unusually in my experience for Tollot Beaut, or red Corton for that matter, a certain elegance. For the record, stored at 53 degrees or less since acquisition upon release.

June 23, 2009 - Nicely made. Cherry pinot noir on the nose. Solid across the palate with a fine finish, albeit with a certain fruit flavor dullness, all too common in my view with the 90 red burgundies. If some wines can be said to sing in terms of fruit quality, this wine, like many other 90's, is on the other end of the spectrum. That said, no rush to drink.

February 26, 2007 - Steaks, Burgundies, and Free T-Shirts at Brad England's (The Lake of the Isles Retreat in Minneapolis): The positive attributes of this wine include vigor, cherries, chalk, and a mouth watering snappiness. The main detractions include a somewhat less dimensional than the other wines tasted tonight, and the chalky characteristic that resembled resin on the finish. There is no danger of immanent decline, but there is not likely to be much improvement in the bottle. This is a solid well-made effort, but nothing to go searching for. Although, it is definitely worth the current $60 average on wine bid.
