December 25, 2021 - Drank on Xmas day with roast beef and chicken. The last time I had this, approximately 15 years ago, it was harsh with very prominent tannins hiding the fruit. Today, it has developed into a beautiful wine. Lovely black fruits with a long finish. Hard to see how it will get much better, but must have a few more years of drinking window.

December 25, 2021 - Still deep garnet red. No bricking or tinge at all. Swirls of warm blackberries, damsons and Christmas spices. Dry austere and French. Leather and cedar, acidity and vibrant. Very good and years left.

December 19, 2021 - Tremendous wine and ready. Decanted 90m and quickly opened out in the glass. So much going on here and keeps giving. Tannin is still prominent but softening and I would expect further improvement over another 2-5 years.

December 12, 2021 - Tasted and decided not to decant; on reflection 30-60 minutes in the decanter might have helped. Some lightening at the rim. Nose is starting to show secondary characteristics, with old leather and some funk accompanying red and black fruit. Elegant, balanced with a little pleasing sweetness on the finish.

A fine wine, but more an intellectual rather than a hedonistic pleasure.

November 28, 2021 - Decanted 1 1/2 hours before serving. Deep ruby color with some slight bricking on the rim. Took about 10 minutes in the glass to open up, where it offered some wonderiful aromas of cigar, dark berries, old leather, and truffles. Medium-to-medium-plus body, medium-to-medium-plus acid, and some wonderful chalky tannins that lingered through the finish. Complex flavors on the palate with some possible prune juice added to the aromas, great minerality, and a nice long finish. One of the best wines I have had this year.
