August 27, 2023 - A very evanescent floral nose. We are perfectly in the theme of the name of the appellation :)

The touch of the mouth is silky, a delicacy, the wine unfolds in the mouth with a restrained acidity which marks the vintage, but which in no way sacrifices the balance mastered from start to finish. I just find that the juice lacks a bit of substance, although the fruit is present, a bed of small raspberries. The finish is on the other hand phenomenal, with this touch of acidity which brings freshness and tension, feeling that the wine stays in the mouth, with the crunchy fruit. Bluffing in length.

Excellent even if I find it a slight lack of substance in terms of juice

November 5, 2020 - Montrachet and Amoureuses dinner (Nicolas Restaurant, Teck Lim Street, Singapore): I have always liked this wine, and it seems to be getting better and better over the years. This bottle was just lovely. The nose had a beautiful melange of dark cherries and blueberries, lifted spice and violet florals, with just a lilt of earth and chalky mineral running along behind. Very pretty. The palate was really strong for a 1996 as well, with a wonderful mouthful of black cherries and deeper blueberries infused with delicious notes of spice and dark florals. There was a strong spine of fine tannins and bright acidity running through the whole thing, lending a wonderful juiciness to the wine, but with none of the tartness that some 1996s show. There was certainly more than enough fruit here to drive the whole thing. Nice finish too, with a long tail of mineral, dried flowers and a little kiss of dried fruit. Absolutely delicious - this was drinking quite at peak.

July 9, 2020 - Nothing wrong, but nothing exciting either.

December 16, 2019 - Medium bodied with bricking throughout. Not giving much aroma. There are tart flavors of strawberries and cherries, along with that tired bricked wine on the finish. A bit watery and lacking complexity. Drink up. This isn’t going to improve from here. Much better 10 years ago. Best served with food.

August 30, 2019 - We initially wrote this off as a flawed bottle, bricked and tired, but wow did an hour of air change the 1996 Amoureuses' tune, as waves of raspberry, coffee, and mushroom now emerge from the glass. Elegant, almost lithe, in presentation, packing a lot of power in a small frame. Contemporaneously, I viewed Groffier wines from the 90s as overextracted and overoaked but this (aside from the coffee tone, which I like) shows no signs of either. Very good.
