April 15, 2024 - I can honestly say this was one of the best bottles of wine I have ever had. Took it to Nick & Stef's Steakhouse. Nose of tobacco and mushrooms. The wine still had a strong backbone of alcohol, tannins, and acidity, paired by notes of dark fruit, blended in a dusty/earthy flavor profile. Classic Bordeaux, it has that taste that reminds me of other wines I've had from that region. Tons of depth, smooth as hell, and just delicious all around. Loved it. Thank you to my father who kept it in his cellar in Switzerland for many years, he was kind enough to gift it to me.

April 11, 2024 - Perfect fill level in the neck. Perfect label and cork. Awesome nose dominated by iron, blood and pencil lead. In the mouth it was youthful, full bodied and long. A great wine with over 41 years in the cellar. I couldn't have hoped for a better showing.

March 30, 2024 - It’s in a perfect place now. Tertiary characteristics starting to dominate. Still plenty of life, yet fully resolved. Great balance, too.

March 12, 2024 - Deep ruby red with pink rim. Youthful appearance. Blueberry, cedar, leaves, lead, tobacco, woodsy slightly musty notes. High toned acid but tannins are smooth and fully integrated with an effortlessness which seems to be a 82 bordeaux quality. More of the same on the palate but with some slight room to go as there is sufficient grip and medium to medium high body. Ends with a sour cherry type note but not unpleasant and it adds a st estephe character. Very very nice 1982.

December 30, 2023 - Opened in HK. P&P and then it was still so big that we chose to decant it.

This really surprised me upon opening, as this was still quite tight, big and tannic. This was especially the case when compared side-by-side to an '82 Pichon-Baron, which was blossoming from the start, which prompted us to chuck the rest into a decanter.

Honestly, any decent Bordeaux from '82 is a treat, but this didn't really do it for me. Good wine but nothing special, turned a corner with some air and became quite tertiary after a while. Strange bottle to me, couldn't really wrap my head around it.

December 25, 2023 - My last bottle of three, purchased on release for $22.99. The last two were excellent and this was no exception. It needed a 60+ minute decant so don’t skip this step. The cork was in good condition. It has that musty old Bordeaux smell for the first 45 minutes which makes the decant even more important. The color is medium red with orange highlights but not much obvious age beyond that. High acidity. Lean to medium body. Flavors show cherry fruit with menthol (Luden’s cough drops), with some earth, cedar, tobacco and licorice. Classic old Bordeaux. It got even better two hours in to drinking. This was a great pleasure after all these years. If you have some, it will drink well right now and hold for some further time but I likely wouldn’t wait if I had more.

December 11, 2023 - 41 years old and yet well balanced, with a weaker nose than previously, very soft delicious tannin, good range of fruits, and medium leg. A wonderful wine. Good to the last bottle, though the cork put up a fight.

December 2, 2023 - Decanted for 1+ hour. Bottle was stored impeccably! Drinking very well. Leather, cedar, tobacco, sweet red and black fruit. Not much of that Bordeaux funk and barnyard. This one is really fresh.
