September 10, 2022 - Opaque but lively deep purple: so sign of any age. On the nose it's different, though, with an initial burst of rich raspberry fruit followed fairly quickly by mature notes of tapenade and woody undergrowth. Tannins are silky, and acidity is faded, though still there. Yes, texturally it's lovely, but aromatically and in terms of presence on the palate it is muted, or tired. 13 years is not that old for a Cornas, so I'm going to assume this is just not a lucky bottle. Cork, 13.5%.

February 1, 2018 - PnP with 20 minutes of initial air time. Powerful nose, with intense aromas of ripe blackberry, peppered beef, and vanilla. Tart dark berry, black pepper, smoked meat, and a skosh of vanilla integrate seamlessly, with a luscious, satiny mouthfeel. Oak increases with more airtime, with a more aggressive waxy note bubbling to the surface. It's a touch closed, but still delicious.

November 22, 2016 - Cave de Tain dinner (The Wine Circle, Virginia Water): Pronounced quite complex aromas/flavours of black fruits, liquorice, pepper, some vanilla and game notes. Quite full bodied with well integrated tannins.

December 17, 2015 - Funny that someone else wrote "steak in a glass". That was pretty much what I was going to say. Cured meat, tapenade and truffles. Sooo savory. There's some buried brambly raspberry in there and it finishes with velvety mocha. Seamless and Gorgeous! Med-full. Very lengthy.

March 14, 2015 - Wow, this is some seriously heavy juice. Decanted for a few minutes before the first glass. No sediment yet. Nose is massively meaty, like sticking your nose in a rare steak. Some floral undertones give this a sense of depth. Matches on the palate...absolutely a "steak in a glass." No finesse here, just pure, unadulterated power. The structure is the real high point in this wine...medium(+) acidity and silky-smooth, warm, medium tannins give this a surprisingly refined mouthfeel. Without a doubt, this wine is "excellent," 92/100.
