  February 6, 2022 - The second day with this wine, and yet more changes. When we write about wine, we do so in the present tense, "is". But these top quality wines change so much over time that I wonder if this "is" may not be the best way of describing them. We all look for absolute statements, and the wine industry will not have the patience for delayed or qualified descriptions of wine. Fine wine, however, is not a static thing but something that acquires yet further nuances over hours and days.
  
  In regards to this wine, it has gone from light ink to black. The nose has lost something of its bright fruit, but the palate has deepened into something close to a 1 Cru, in its density if not in its finesse.
  
  Interesting stuff.

  February 5, 2022 - After three hours in the decanter, this is now a different wine. Better? I have given it more points. But ultimately, I don't know. Incredible depth of colour,
  increasing dark depth on the nose. Blimey, a very big wine. And in drinking, it just gets bigger and bigger.

  February 5, 2022 - All of the notes below focus on the flavour of this wine, which is undeniably attractive. It is a very good representative of St. Julien.
  
  But there is something missing. Backbone, structure, tannic depth. It doesn't have any of these. Is it the vintage? Possibly, although 2012 stands better than the vintages around it (2011 and 2013).
  
  I have opened a magnum, so it might be more interesting as a wine tomorrow.
  
  But I don't think so, somehow.

  November 17, 2021 - Decanted 4 hours. Ruby, long legs, red fruit forward fragrance with raspberry , strawberries , strong leather , peppercorn, graphite , vanilla finish. Almost floral, beautiful. Medium dry, strong tannins side and frontal still present, delicious milky strawberries and nectarines.

  October 3, 2021 - Last tasted about a month ago (medium body, good depth, nice fruit). I think Robert Parker often gave this Chateau a lower rating than it really deserved. Originally I gave this wine 92 points, and now I would give it 92+.
