February 28, 2023 - Still drinking well at 13 years. More time to go. This wine changes a lot over time. The first glass had all sorts of bright cherry fruit. The later glasses it was getting bigger and more plummy. A long finish. All of the tannins are fully integrated, but definitely there. Fairly different to the 'normal' Cayuse which to me has more funk.

December 12, 2021 - Very precise. Good acidity and structure although tannins are completely resolved. Tons of fruit. Good pairing wine. Suspect will hold for a while here but not improve. While I like these wines and talented wine maker they are not a good QPR IMO. Third time having and get more pleasure elsewhere for same or less.

October 21, 2021 - Very appealing and delicate in the glass, beautiful light garnet. Tart cherry and tapenade on the nose. Also delicate on the mid-palate, good acidity, then the cherry and tapenade gives way to an intense, mineral and tannic finish that lasts and lasts. Delicious, no hurry.

March 11, 2021 - Needed about 90 minutes to really open up. Had that nice bit of barnyard like Cayuse. Kinda has an old-world feel for a new-world wine. Bold flavors of dark cherry, leather, blackberry. It went from good to really good after opening up. It's got plenty of life to go.

January 20, 2021 - Decanted 1 hour. Popped this to celebrate the inauguration after a recommendation from Sean Sullivan from Wine Enthusiast. Amazing wine that is drinking at peak! Some Rocks Funk on the nose, with cracked pepper, blackberries, grilled beef and black olive flavors. Very elegant and smooth, almost a creamy quality in the mouth. Very sad it's my last bottle, but happy I opened it. Drink now - 2025.

November 24, 2020 - Outstanding vintage for this wine, drinking beautifully. 4 hour decant. Typical rocks funk nose. Beautifully subdued fruit from palette through a medium finish. Paired perfectly with shrimp and kielbasa skewers. Glad we have two more.

September 13, 2020 - Gorgeous rocks funk syrah. To me this tasted almost identical to reynvaan.

August 16, 2020 - PnP. Dark blue fruit, sweet dried spice, white pepper, menthol on the nose. Luxurious mouthfeel with integrated tannins. Medium bodied. Very green, stemmy short finish at first, but this changed after about an hour. Drank best around 30 min in, started to get very tannic and hot after an hour or so.

January 4, 2020 - Wines that F**k to kick off the new year (Bob's, Lincoln Park, Chicago, IL): Nose: The nose is rich, but balanced and filled with licorice, blackberries, black cherries, menthol, black olives, black raspberries, liqueur tones, violets, and some peppery notes. There is excellent depth and this feels a bit tamed down from where it likely was.

Taste: The feel is full bodied with medium acidity and silky, medium tannins. The structure is in a great place right now as it is only there for framing. The feel is lush and balanced with blackberries, black cherries, menthol, black raspberries, pepper tones, black olives, and violets.

Overall: This is some pretty sexy stuff right now. It's not what I would always reach for, but I really appreciate how good this is as the fruit is deep and balanced.
