April 6, 2012 - Cote Roties with Shane Finley (The Bristol, Chicago IL): nose: wonderful layering strikes you right off the bat in a way that only a mature wine can be. Balanced with aromatic and savory tones of black olives, black fruits, black cherries, dark florals, pepper and some spice tones. Really good depth and elegant and doesn't seem as old as it is
taste: medium/full bodied and very silky on the palate. Good medium acidity is still there with balanced and layered tones of black olives, spice tones, tapenade, black fruits and a bit of pepper
overall: this was the first wine of the night and a great way to kick it off. This ended up being drunk by the whole group before we could find out if it would fall apart or not. It was straight pop n pour and took just a slight bit to really open up. A lovely wine
