February 23, 2019 - Dark and brooding but refined with regal class all the way. Structured cedar oak and blackberry notes with hints of vanilla on the full bodied palate. Long finish. This shows the winemaking skill of Chave in a less expensive bottling to his flagship wines.

January 1, 2019 - Fair oak treatment, blueberries, forest floor. Ripe palate, medium acid, medium tannins, decent length.

August 30, 2018 - Fragrance of roses and violets mingle with red berry pastilles. Intense fruit on the palate with nuances of black pepper and cigar box towards the back. Lots of layers, fully integrated oak, good acidity and surprising ripeness. Fully rounded tannins and a 60 second finish.

December 17, 2016 - Not as balanced as the 2010 but still a nice wine!

June 25, 2016 - Deep dense red. As before, dark fruit with density, purity and balance. But at this point the oak and tannins are too prominent. Seems to be at an awkward phase. Great potential, but should be held for at least 5+ years to get past the current awkwardness. I agree with Marka's experience, but I am confident that patience will prevail. This needs time to resolve; Delas or a Washington State Syrah will be more approachable in the near term.

Revisited 4 days later: much smoother, with black fruit and significant depth. Harshness greatly dissipated. Reinforces my opinion that this will age well, but needs time. Big wine. Hold 5+ years.
