August 1, 2021 - Utterly delicious accompiment to a fine lamb main course at The Glasshouse in Kew on the occasion of our 29th wedding anniversary. It even outshone the very respectable Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume which we paired with sublime ceviche and lobster starters. What a meal !

May 29, 2021 - Terrific. Red fruit profile that opened a bit lean and linear. With an hour of air, things rounded beautifully and blood orange complexity emerged. Still has a few years to hit its peak but very fine today with a few hours of air. (93+)

December 24, 2020 - In such a good spot right now. Much improved from 2017. 2009 Barolo have been great lately. Definitely an early drinking vintage and drinking really well right now. This hasn’t quite peaked yet and will likely improve a little more but it’s so good right now that they are hard to resist.

December 23, 2020 - This one rested in a carafe for 3 hours and was just singing. Light berries and quite attacking on the nose. In the mouth elegant and midweight, still tight and tannic but also plenty of fruit and just early mature sensations. Brovia is all about elegance and there is absolutely none of the alcoholic and boiled plum sensations that is typical of 09. Right now super nice with food but probably too harsh to go alone. I would say: Brovia is really a top, top estate.

October 24, 2020 - Overall a pleasant surprise. A bit forward on the nose, a sign of a warm vintage. But actually quite elegant, still some fruit and also tertiary notes on the palate. One of the better 2009’s I have tasted. Drink it cooled down though - and drink it fairly soon. I don’t think the fruit will last more than 2-3 years from now. Will drink my last bottles within a year.
