June 10, 2023 - From magnum. Decanted two hours. Nice floral nose. Medium body and acidity some tart cherry but nothing very special. Decent wine

November 2, 2021 - Last of 4 bottles purchased in 2011. Decanted (for sediment) and then drank immediately - Dark red color with slight meniscus - looks much younger than expected (decanting needed for sediment). Great nose - rose petal, tar (with air), cedar, pine resin (with air), strawberry and sweet cherry on nose. Palate flavor profile similar to nose (plus black licorice and no pine resin/cedar) - medium body, medium+ acidity, medium tannins and nice long finish. 93+

Would never guess this was a '99 if tasted blind as prior taster noted. Was worried this was over the hill but it drank beautifully. Did shut down after several hours of air - would drink now.

November 23, 2019 - Took notes at 2 times - immediate pop & pour and then 2 hours later (did not decant).

Medium red color with fair amount of sediment - didn't look 20 years old except for the sediment. Beautiful nose - rose petals, sweet cherry, menthol, cedar, sweet tobacco, tart cherry. On palate, sweet/sour cherry, tobacco, tart cherry - fruit was much brighter than I would have expected with this age. Full body, medium acidity/tannins (integrated completely) and very long finish. 94-95 at this point.

2 hours later with dinner, the wine had shut down somewhat. It was still very good (92+) at this point, but the nose showed more dried fruit as did the palate. I had thought you should decant older Barolos for 3 hours but this wine shut down with air. Hmmm.

Purchased in 2011 and stored in cool cellar. No rush, but drink fairly soon after opening. Curious if other CT readers have had similar experience with this wine.

July 17, 2017 - Flash note. A flash note is one that I distinctly remember the quality/overall rating of a wine but can’t give specifics because the tasting note was not written at time of tasting.

Young and well integrated. First time I’ve ever had this wine. Dinner at Sugo with Kelli and Kenna. Highly recommended

March 4, 2017 - Haunting nose to this wine, absolutely beautiful. Floral, with telltale Barolo tar, earth, a very small touch of raisin (that wasn't distracting as I usually hate raisin in wine.) BIG on the palate. Full bodied wine from front to back. Tannins were insanely powerful and drying. There would be absolutely no way to tell this was a 17-year-old wine if tasted blind. As a matter of fact, they were so prevalent, I worry about the tannins outlasting the fruit. Hoping to pick up another bottle and try again in 5-10 years. Still... a fantastic wine.
