November 7, 2023 - BTG at 67PM as a last hurrah before paternity leave.
Getting familiar with this now and it’s gorgeous nose of Italian leather, intense deep cherry, tomato, a subtle hint of oak sweetness.
Deep inky and rich on the palate with waves of lip-smacking red cherry. Tannins noticeable but very polite. Excellent

August 31, 2023 - Lovely; with plenty of life; quintessential Sangiovese Super Tuscan; great nose; medium fruit with some acidity; long finish.

August 16, 2023 - Ferragosto feast! (Chez Nick): I first tried this in 2020, as part of a tasting hosted by Giovanni Manetti, and he commented that it then needed a couple of years to come together. Well, it has done, so he wasn't wrong - although it did need an extremely long time in the decanter. Gorgeous herbal-accented deeply fruited, layered nose. Oodles of dark fruit on the palate, a grippiness that reminds one that this wine is still barely mature, and a sensuousness and intensity that elevated it ahead of its flight-mates. Probably (just about) my WOTN.

August 16, 2023 - Italian evening at Nick's (Chez Nick): This was brutish on opening, a wall of tannin, massive and statuesque. Double-decanting five hours in advance, and then a further decant into a wide-bottomed jug just about got us over the line but really what this needs is more time and likely lots of it. Its dark and brooding, great nose, very floral with sweet and pure red fruit like dark cherry. Really grippy, suprisingly svelte on the mid-palate though with wonderful spice. Can't wait to see where this goes but the next outing will be after 2028.

August 16, 2023 - Nick’s Festa di Ferragosto; 8/16/2023-8/17/2023: The nose opens with sweet red cherry and tomato, then shows a ferrous core before finally some floral - a nose you can live in.
Lovely palate - proper iron fist in the velvet glove. Tannins reasonably tamed by decanting but still there. Beautiful wine. I had had this en magnum on my birthday when it also shone so a real treat to have it again.
