February 13, 2020 - Burgundy, Day 3 (Beaune, France): From quarter magnum and served double blind. Unequivocally a wine from the 90s based on the age and the way the brown spice showed. A very generous helping of fruit and some pretty intense tannins had me guessing my favourite vintage of that decade, 1993. The acidity here seemed to be a little bit higher as well. Beautiful stuff, and a textbook example of why we need to age our Burgundies. That said, the tannins on the finish don't seem remotely close to being fully resolved yet.

November 15, 2018 - Like a bottle two years ago, this was slow out of the blocks, but in the end really delivered.

July 8, 2018 - A solid but fading color. Beautiful nose of black cherry and red spices. Quite rich and powerful for a CSD with gorgeous ripe black cherry fruit along with notes of spice and minerals. Velvety in texture and the crisp acidity keeps everything fresh, structured and in-check. Great intensity on the finish with just a fabulous crunch of cherry/mineral and some aged autumnal notes. Glorious Burgundy and while it will soften and get more complex over the next 5-10 years, it’s hard not to pull a bottle now to enjoy the fruit intensity while it’s still there. 96+

September 1, 2017 - Astonishingly accessible, this was night vs day next to '99 Dugat Py Charmes. Lightweight with a long finish of juicy fruit and spice. I can't recall drinking a '99 Grand Cru that was more accessible than this, a beautiful wine that probably has a long life ahead, but why wait?

November 19, 2016 - Great Burgundy Dinner (Bavette's - Chicago IL): Ripe red berries from start to finish with spice galore. Long finish with nearly perfect balance of fruit and structure. Great fruit, but perhaps slightly too dominated by whole cluster character. Served alongside Ponsot 1993 Clos St Denis, this was a fascinating contrast in wines and styles.

(Dujac Clos St. Denis) This was screaming right out of the bottle..."smell me, smell me, smell me." I obliged. Very expressive nose of dark violets, spice, blueberry, red cherries, some oak and mineral. Really penetrating and high-toned nose but very expansive in the glass. Nose of the night. Palate was concentrated and powerful with a lacey-like haunting texture and beautiful soaking fruit on the finish. Sweet tannins. Could use more time but a blast to drink now. Excellent Burgundy.
