January 3, 2018 - Here, from Ernesto Catena (son of Nicolás Catena of Bodega Catena Zapata, a famous name in, and producer of, Argentinian wine), is a lovely, typically rich Malbec balanced with Bonarda softness. It's the latter that springs up first from cork and bottle, the focus on milk chocolate and sweet berries. But then the Malbec comes in, and it's blackberry, blackcurrant, violet, earth, twigs, and raspberry leaf. At this point, at over six years of age, it's certainly in its prime, though the acidity is on the wane and the fine-grained, almost chalky tannins provide just enough firmness to prop up the ripe, almost flabby fruit. Indeed, even if it's on the backside of prime, it's a fine combination of Argentina's two distinct red grapes, showcasing each in a blend that successfully unifies the two into something quite good.

April 25, 2014 - Beautiful ruby in the glass. Green peppers and veggies on the nose.
Full-bodied, good mid with slightly astringent finish. Great with a mild cheese or on pizza night.

April 4, 2014 - Popped & poured, dark purple but lacking body, good finish; opened up a bit; good QPR

April 3, 2014 - A nose of dark fruits and spice, dark black in color. A medium to full bodied red blend, with currants, plum, licorice, finishes with long spiced notes. A different and very good red, cool label. www.winelx.com

April 10, 2013 - Argentina/Catena Zapata visit, etc; 4/9/2013-4/12/2013: mostly Bonarda with Malbec. Red and black fruit. caramel. 'cocoa' Very finesse-y on the palate. rather modern flavors and aromas, but palate texture compensates.
