  March 8, 2014 - This was delicious. Floral nose with ripe and round red grenache fruit. Moderate finish. Stellar weeknight wine.

A decidedly different wine from the Edmunds St. John, what with its heavy tobo and smoked meat dominated nose backed up with a distinct gameness to it. No doubt about this; the nose says it all: Grenache dominates this wine with a hefty dose of Carignan. Checking on my creds, the material on line backs me up. The balance of the wine apparently comes from Syrah. Despite the gameness - or perhaps due to it - the wine drinks more like a Chateauneuf du Pape than a simple Cotes du Rhone. And while it is hugely different from the Edmunds St. John, it is its own wonderful self. Some very slight sediment. 14.5% alc. With cheeses (comté, bleu du basques and others), mole and crusty bread. With BB along to help celebrate a special day. Recommended.
