July 17, 2020 - These are showing a little tired. Bruised apple and cinnamon. A little citrus zest. This was still very good and fairly creamy. Better than last bottle from the same case. 92 - 93.

May 5, 2020 - Touch advanced for my tastes.

February 22, 2020 - Fresher than the last bottle. Rich and succulent. That is amazing.

December 31, 2019 - 5th and last bottle from a great lot of 5 from Crush. Provenance must have been perfect because this is drinking so well. Rich and honeyed with caramel and roast chestnut notes. Acid and effervescence still supporting the richness well. Drank half and put away to drink the second half an hour later and there is no decline. Just a long delicious plateau. I think provenance is really important with this vintage given the variable reports.

October 14, 2019 - 1985 Krug brut and 1985 Krug Clos du Mesnil - both purchased on release and in impeccable condition

Having these two side by side shows just how racy and intense the mesnil is.

The Brut is a broad mouthful of baked apple, nuts and sweet cream. It has edges of that earthy mushroom note as the oxidative bent starts to form. Medium acidity but the wine relies more on the lushness of fruit than power.
