November 25, 2019 - Monthly Tasting Group - Spain: My note from 5 years ago still resonates, and I'm not changing my score. At a Spanish tasting where you'd think the reds would dominate, this bottle stole the show. Complex, old school, great caramel and lemon oil.

November 17, 2019 - Monthly Tasting Group: Spain (Estelle, St. Paul, MN): Very small pour. This was my favorite of our white tonight. Savory, white flowers, fantastic minerality with great penetration, mulled spices, white fruit, tangerine, ground nuts, full bodied, a little oil to the texture yet quite lithe, long and resonant finish. Loved it.

June 23, 2019 - We opened this outside on this beautiful summer night. A taster quickly said: wow, this has a powerful aroma of candle wax. I said, no, silly, I lit a couple of citronella candles to keep the bugs away. She said: It’s in the glass, I swear. I walked my glass inside, and was shocked how right she was. Citronella on its own might not appeal, but it’s a complex bouquet with orange oil, preserved lemons, cookie dough, melon rind and crushed green almonds. I made a crabmeat frittata, w parmesan and fresh tarragon, with a quick romesco sauce, minimizing the tomatoes to highlight the marcona almonds. This dish brought out the best in this quirky, oily white: flavors of briny kelp, nut oils, green herbs, and slightly bitter sherry barrel on the finish. A unique and value added rioja, with the right dish.

December 23, 2018 - Consistent with previous bottles. Such a complex wine. Slightly oily with nutty, citrus flavors. Finishes long. Paired great with grilled octopus and potatoes.
