August 27, 2023 - A very aniseed nose, a hint of vanilla. It smells of heavy, clumsy wine.
However, the mouth is a model of freshness, with an enormous substance that coats the mouth. Where the wine takes off, it is indeed with its bitters of a mad class. This wine is a bomb of concentration, it stays in the mouth and the finish is magnificent. He gives this impression of being only at the beginning of his life.
A great bottle
April 23, 2023 - Still so youthful, fresh, with a light bitter note, long finish. No detailed note made.
April 15, 2023 - 21st half of 24, pnp, soggy cork, perfect level, just a tad off sensational half in 2014 but still fresh, energetic, complex, balanced and oh so long, persistent and concentrated, little sense of fade, but certainly no upside now at 33! VF (18.5)..........always a sensational CC and the equal of the still fresh and VF 89, both reminding us that top Burgundy is meant to age and be aged in a process that adds dimension and nuance.......wine merchants who suggest otherwise (you know who you are) need to go back to school and examine some well cellared bottles from this era!
March 11, 2023 - Quite fine and exemplar Corton with myriad tropical fruits. Fully mature and lovers of more precise wines likely enjoyed this more a few years ago but still wonderful.
September 10, 2021 - Great match with lobster bisque. This bottle was even a bit leaner than the prior example. At maturity but will continue along smoothly for quite some time.
June 2, 2021 - Started out quite lean and with some time in the glass blossomed nicely. Sultry nose, smooth and monolithic wine.
November 16, 2020 - Rich on the nose but fresh on the palate, the kind of super 1990 one expects. Buttery, white fruit, all the reductive CC character but balanced almost like Puligny. Exemplary clarity, stony acidity and beautiful balance. 93-94
September 27, 2020 - Drank in London
Still young with an incredible richness. Still needs some time in a decanter
September 2, 2020 - Gareth's Burgundy Dinner - Noize (Noizé, London): No formal note. Fresh, youthful, touch of spice, medium bodied, apples, spice, vibrant acidity, long finish. ****1/2
March 13, 2020 - From a 0,375l.
Gorgeous, mature white Burgundy. Still very much alive.
Guessed Burg. from the 90s.
