April 10, 2021 - Drunk straight from the bottle without decanting.
The wine is slightly hazy and looks deep ruby in colour.
There is no sediment in the bottle.
On the nose: Slight barnyard, caramelised/burnt plumbs and cherry. Smokiness at the end with slight apple and spice.
On the palate: Burnt/caramelised fruit (Apple/plumb/cherry/raspberry). Overall not overly sweet becomes more savoury towards the end with Black pepper spice and tobacco notes.
The body is medium/full.
The wine has a smooth texture.
The wine finishes medium.
The wine has fresh smooth to flabby acidity
The wine has medium level of round Tannin.
Past its best IMO. Lack the silky smoothness I was hoping for and expect with a aged Cab Sauv. Stayed consistent throughout the bottle but missing that depth of flavour.
February 16, 2021 - Strangely this last bottle was in much better form than its predecessor. It didn't particuarly seem to fade between the first glass and the last. The wine certainly isn't improving at this point, however, so it still feels like a good time to drink up.
December 23, 2020 - Nice deep and dark in the glass. Nose - Rich blackcurrant funky fruitiness. Taste - smooth, mature, i felt slightly perfumed, distinctly cab sauvignon blackcurrant, with some raisin, mint acidity, long. I agree with others' comments about drinking up, it feels time.
November 10, 2020 - Still good, but it feels like it's time to drink up now. The fruit started to fade fairly quickly after opening and had vanished altogether on day 2.
October 12, 2020 - Outstanding. More funky than I would have assumed. Lots going on in a good way. Smooth. Really aged well. Too bad only one bottle.
April 19, 2020 - Holding well for a 2006, not sure I would wait much longer.
January 12, 2019 - Decanted for an hour and paired with a rib-eye. Such an excellent wine that never disappoints. Nose is very funky in a good way, but hanvn't been able to describe what it is, very ripe fruit of some sort.Still craving it the day after.
December 30, 2018 - This is super stuff, like a slightly rough (in a nice way) mature left bank claret, but at a quarter of the price. Incredible VFM.
September 26, 2018 - Deep red colour fading at rim
Very ripe nose, stewed fruit, pencil shavings, cedar
Full body, thick texture and fruit, more stewed fruit, and some tannin. Long finish, walnuts and leather, spices, a little drying
This is a little wild and a little clumsy but I really like it as it’s so fiercely individual. Like an argentine Musar or Tondonia. Big alcohol 15%
May 28, 2018 - Was amazing with a Tomahawk
