Community Tasting Notes 5

August 8, 2017 - One hour decant and consumed over the next three. This wine never seemed to open and mellow. Purchased based on tasting room experience so must be in a dumb phase or an off bottle. Sad!

March 12, 2016 - Not exactly in love with this wine, and appears to already be on the downhill slide with some significant tertiary notes developing after 2 hours. Popped with a light purple cork stain. The pour was garnet colored. Medium to full bodied. Had a metallic nose, with blackberry very present. The entry was good blackberry and some ash, but had a green tertiary note that juuuust started to creep on in, and kind of stayed there over the course of the experience. The middle had a little more of a dark chocolate note kicking in. The finish was a little berry, some sweet tannin, some acid, and a little herbal. I'm not sure if this was a bit of THC taint perhaps, but the wine just didn't ever seem to really express. I've been holding on to this one for 2 years, but I don't think that's entirely too long. Still, I seem to notice that a lot of Erna wines seem to go downhill a little faster than most, but I'm still not sure that's what the case was here.

November 20, 2015 - Wow. Drinking perfectly in November 2015.

April 8, 2014 - Really surprised how uninspiring this was. Especially given some reputable reviews out there. I just found this simple and boring. Uber polished tannins with virtually no grip, tart cherry, fresh tilled soil and some vanilla on the finish. Wished for more flavor and complexity for this price point.

Consumed at at cellar temp: 60°-65° F. Friends don't let friends drink red wine at room temp!

March 27, 2014 - Currants, pomegranate notes and violets jump from the glass in this beautifully structured and balance wine. From the deep magenta color to the rich and varied flavors of mocha, cassis and sweet oak, to the long and generous finish with notes of cherry cola and cedar, this wine strikes all the right chords and doesn’t pull any punches.
