November 1, 2021 - No real change here since my last note. Pleasant and bright red fruits tending slightly toward the tart end of the spectrum. Some nice tannin and savory elements add interest. Seems to me to be in a fine drinking window…be sure to decant off the fine sediments!

June 5, 2021 - Dark red fruit earthy and a tea note on the nose. Tart quality to the red fruit and savory, but decent amount of substance to the lean and pretty Pinot fruit.

Really drinking nicely now... better than any other bottle so far for me. Stand the bottle up and decant gently to discard the large amount of fine sediment. This totally changes the way the wine behaves in the glass!

August 19, 2019 - Clear garnet. A: considerably muted when first opened, this gained interest after a couple of hours. A smoky and earthy thing going on alongside cherry. F: similarly, this put on weight and became more interesting after a few hours. Rather hollow initially, but then acquired nice red fruit along with some herbs and a strong mineral edge. Definitely on the lighter side of things, and seems to be a drink up call at this point.

Enjoy it now and open well in advance (standing it up a few days in advance also seems to help with this).

July 2, 2017 - Similar to our observations 15 months ago, but this time with some more pronounced yet welcome earthy and dusty notes framing the spicy fruit. Very enjoyable over three nights, with some development.

April 22, 2016 - Medium Garnet. Well balanced, with very good acid. Zippy, zingy, savory spicy, with a touch of earth and a smidge of funk. Clearly a California cold coast Pinot Noir, and a nice example. Thoroughly enjoyable over three nights, and pleasantly cloudy at the very end.

November 28, 2015 - Light crimson color. Quite French in the style. Nose initially subdued but develops into true Pinot Noir after a while. Clearly a relatively cold climate wine, not much residual sugar. Lots of red berries, cherries and raspberries. Works well with food.

July 8, 2015 - An enticing entry-level Pinot that drinks like it was twice the price. Very light red in color, almost cloudy; somewhat muted nose, with hints of violets; light in body. Graceful tastes of sour cherry, spice, and gravel, with a nice dose of acidity. 13.1% alcohol. This was my first Knez; it will not be my last!

October 18, 2014 - Syrlig, kjølig frukt, noe bringebær, litt krydder, heller mot velhengt kjøtt, litt slapp.

October 10, 2014 - Something fuzzy color, like real homemade juice.
Opens on nose with very fresh herbs and eucalyptus. Some strawberries and cherries. After some time in the glass most strawberries and wine gums. In mouth the first zips is powerful with fresh herbs, they turn more and more over to spice tones. The wine gives a good mouthfeel.
