September 26, 2023 - 13 year old Washington Cab, still very rough. After an hour of air it was coming around "a bit" - keep waiting! May be potential here for mid-90s score, but I'm not so sure. Will I live that long?

June 10, 2023 - Dense purple. Black and blue fruits on nose and palate with some pronounced oak. Quite rich and full-bodied but not much in the way of complexity. An hour of air improved the experience. Some will appreciate the style more than others but I can't count myself in the latter camp anymore, especially given the price point.

March 10, 2023 - On opening, very little nose, light tannin, subtle fruit. Complex balanced wine which needs time to open. One hour in, wine is much more vivid. Much stronger and complex flavors.

March 5, 2023 - Opened and let rest for about 30 minutes. The wine was still dark not showing much maturity in the colour. It had a rich flavour profile with lots of dark fruit and a hint of chocolate. The finish was quite short and seemed to be lacking acidity that give it a slightly out of balance character. Still very tasty but perhaps not at its best.

January 17, 2023 - Very poor QPR. Big jammy fruit with terroir that doesn’t have an elegance of “schist” or “graphite”. This is more just dirt. The flavor profile to me is big fruit, followed by a little menthol then dirt. Seriously, not “loam” or “iron” or “wet leaves in decay”. This is dirt like when you’re planting a tree and you wipe your brow with the back of your arm and get sweaty dirt in your mouth.

Washington Wine Report

(Figgins Red Wine Walla Walla Valley) An aromatically appealing wine with mocha, earth, and a medley of red and black fruit, and graphite. The palate is a showstopper with a perfect balance of concentration, richness, and grace supported by firm tannins that need some time to unwind. Alternate parts a callout to Bordeaux and uniquely Washington. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. Aged 20 months in French oak (75% new). 14.3% alcohol. 1,550 cases produced. Sample provided by winery.
