August 19, 2020 - We really enjoyed this again. A lovely Spanish Tempranillo. Fruit and some oak on the nose, balanced on the palate. Amazing qpr.

August 19, 2019 - I had one of these a few years back and recall a notable dill and more red fruited character that I actually liked but is no longer coming through. Very dense, black and opaque coloring with ruby to garnet edges that are clouded a bit with sediment (I did not decant this and probably should have). Aromas of dark fruits (graduating towards stewed as it's been open), dark chocolate, walnuts, pen ink, graphite, and a touch of violet. Medium body and finish, medium (+) acid, with flavors of dark fruits, a little tart black raspberry, dark chocolate, and a bit of mineral and spice. Good with a flank steak with chimichurri tonight.

May 28, 2018 - Four years on and this has really developed. The tannins have receded quite a bit and this would pair well with a nice piece of beef. Tannins still there on the finish but not ripping your face off.

The dill notes on the nose and palate have resolved.

Really enjoyable now and have one more bottle to visit in on.

June 12, 2016 - Classic RdD. Rich, well-extracted fruit, tending towards red varieties, with balanced oak and acid. Grippy but not drying tannins, long chocolatey finish.

February 20, 2016 - Some wines you drink, enjoy and forget, and then there are some that linger in your thoughts. This belongs to the latter category.

An intense purple in the glass; the nose offers ripe berries and toasted oak. Velvety layers of ripe plums and cherries coat the mouth; but the fruit in this full-bodied wine is skillfully balanced with an equal measure of acid and assertive tannins. The finish is sweet and clings on like a needy lover.

This wine took me to a happy place.

February 4, 2016 - Very smooth, but was hoping for more fruit. Ran through the venturi and then let it rest in the decanter for about an hour, maybe it needed more air?

December 4, 2015 - Really opened nicely on day 2. Solid core of dark fruit and the grainy tannins several others have mentioned. Bold and very refined for the price. Great buy.

November 21, 2015 - Another winner from Spain. I don't know the specs on the vintage but I do know that this is a dark rich wine with sexy grainy tannins. My guests and I had it after a 2012 tinta de rios. And it clobbered the tinta de rios. This opened beautifully, its charms and virtues on strong display. It tasted better than a previous bottle I had. I don't know if another year in the bottle did It or the weakness of the previous. Others here have captured the dark fruit. I sensed the wine's insistence that it be "heard". Not in a obnoxious way, instead in confident way. We had it with roast chicken but I see this standing up to almost anything from tomato sauce to hanger steak. It's good, that good.
