August 5, 2019 - This bottle was purchased from an online action website. This was not the first instance of receiving a flawed bottle from this vendor but rather a common occurrence. Having learned the hard way, I now only purchase wine directly from the vintner or reputable retailer. Caveat Emptor.
July 10, 2018 - Very good, decanted, it took about an hour to open up, restrained at the beginning, with the decant and time, this wine came together nicely, it has a very nice balance between fruit and firm yet refined tanins that make the wine a perfect compliment to steak. The wine can spend more time on the cellar, but in a very nice spot now with a 1-2 hour decant.
May 5, 2018 - I did not give this a great tasting and then bottle left open for 2 days. Interesting wine. Still young and tight. Needed a long decant, which I didn't give it.
December 5, 2017 - A perfect pairing with smoked prime rib. Still in the youthful stage but starting to open up. Still powerful dark fruits with cedar, herbs and earth. Tannins are present but can be tamed with fatty meats. After a few hours it was balanced and delicious. Always a treat.
August 15, 2017 - Decanted for about an hour and drank over 3 hrs. This has aged nicely with big red fruit, lots of dusty tannins and black coffee.
Should probably age for a while but drinking great now with the fruit still bright and vibrant.
Best served with steak.
April 13, 2017 - 750ml; PnP and followed for about 2 hrs; Dark opaque crimson color, medium viscosity (legs); Aromas of of dark red fruit, alcohol, spice and leather; Flavors of d black and red fruits, spicy tannins, pretty big acidity, finish of fruit, acid, and savory. Not ready in my opinion - needs to mellow out a few more years at least.
November 5, 2016 - Not the greatest vintage, and it shows in some lean bell pepper notes with first sampled. Over time, however, this showed blackberry, mocha and solid mineral notes. Strong finish really helped sell this wine.
October 16, 2016 - Well made, reasonably interesting. Lots of dark berry, floral elements and perhaps some chocolate hints. Decent acidity. Some dusty tannins, but in the background.
September 18, 2016 - Has improved nicely in last year.
September 20, 2015 - Rich, black fruit, firm backbone upon opening, delicious. Decanted for 6-8 hours, then sealed. Never evolved, and maybe even devolved over the next 24 hours. Lost the powerful fruit, touch too acidic. Am hoping this is a reflection of the best that could be made of a poor vintage.
