June 14, 2023 - Absolutely on song. Lovely wine, with fruit and complexity. Great Thalabert.

May 14, 2023 - An interesting one, this... it's mostly faded, leaving not a great deal except acidity, but given that it didn't feel at all tired, just somewhat... thin. Those flavours and aromas that remain were predictably evolved: sundried tomato, ketchup, leather, blackcurrant jam, damp earth. Went well with food, given the acidity, but a bit too mature to fall in love with otherwise. Definitely not a wine to serve to beginners!

April 16, 2022 - It appears I am going to make a similar note to someone else who was pretty unexcited by it 12 years ago! The colour was great. But everything else just dull. Little fruit, hardly noticeable acidity and did not improve over the hour it was open. A real disappointment.

May 31, 2021 - What a pleasure to find classic Jaboulet, even if it considered to be from the latter years of the family running it.
Colour: med red, med rim, brown tinge.
Nose: elegant, delightfully mature with classic pepper rather than modern fruit bomb flavours.
Taste: med body, smooth, well resolve tannins, builds with time, good fruit and long finish.
Overall, a delight in an old fashioned style. Elegant and smooth.

January 5, 2021 - Plenty of fruit, a little smoke and bacon, slightly clipped finish. Others liked more than the '83 La Chapelle. B

April 19, 2020 - From a magnum with a couple of hours decant. Clear red/brown in the glass, significant bricking. Potent nose of barnyard, Brett, wood smoke and cassis. The fruit here is pretty faded with palate of raisin, black cherry and leather. Decent acid balance. Dusty spiced finish. Definitely past best but declining gracefully.

December 1, 2019 - Lovely wine, impossible not to finish the bottle! Lovely bouquet and still plenty of fruit in the wine. Nice length. I have probably drunk more vintages of Thalabert than any other wine, and this is a good example.
