March 14, 2014 - When I first had Black Ankle's Rolling Hills, I became aware that Maryland was capable of high end red wine in much the same way as when I tasted Pheasant Ridge's Cabernet blend from Texas and the Reds from many east end Long Island New York wineries. This wine joins them, though being a year or two from full maturity it's not certain exactly how it will evolve. Right now there is a complex, pepper and herbaceous taste to it, that got better as it stayed in the glass. The finish was long for a light to medium bodies wine. It was excellent as an accompaniment to our roast chicken with root vegetables. I'll let my other bottle sit for another year or so,
