May 14, 2018 - Still drinkable at this late date, but properly stored this would last awhile longer. Black fruit with hints of tobacco, soft tannins on the lingering finish. Enjoying with some moderately aged pecorino.
October 6, 2016 - Wine Wizards Monthly Tasting: This bottle approaching its aging window. Still good color and some fruit and green notes but less balanced and a hint of brown sugar in the finish. Bought out of a close out basket and the current vintage is 2014. The drinking window is about 3-4 years from the vintage. Still a real value at around $10.
May 31, 2016 - For the price, it is hard to go wrong with this as a nice house wine.
May 22, 2016 - Good fruit with appealing earthiness. Balanced acidity, low to moderate tannin, good body, medium long finish.
January 8, 2016 - Yummy and simple. Cherry, red berry. Perfectly integrated flavours. Wouldn't keep for much longer.
October 4, 2015 - The wine looks violet colored. The legs are fast. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like mushroom. The body is light. The wine has narrow texture. The wine finishes short. The wine has medium acidity.
August 21, 2015 - Seems a shade or two lighter in the glass than the 2013. Red and black fruits on the nose - I gather this is a Sangiovese blend, and whereas the 2013 seemed to emphasize the Sangiovese on the nose, this version seems more about the blending grapes.
Not bad, but right now I prefer the younger vintage.
April 27, 2015 - cheers - at 5.99 I was happy, at $8-9 I'll buy something else.....just not a bargain at that price...I have at least 3 different wines for under $6 that are better than this....
March 4, 2015 - Red currant, dried herbs and white pepper on the nose. Sweet dark berry with a lively acidity and smooth texture. Notes of vanilla on the finish. Not bad for $10.
February 28, 2015 - 2nd bottle and I detect some greenness. Still good but a little green. Maybe time will improve it.
