Community Tasting Notes 5

March 19, 2022 - Sichuan and Rieslings (Taste of Sichuan, Beaverton OR): The nose is complex and melded, filling the glass with creamed Peaches, red apples, nectarines, pears, flowers, mineral notes, saline, some scrambled eggs, and kumquats. The Light bodied feel shows off some de airy that belies its size along with racy, h acid. This feels like it’s entering its window. There is a lot to like about it right now and it probably could’ve benefitted from more air as the reduction was just a bit too much at first.

October 2, 2021 - Peach, apple, pear, spice and floral notes on the nose. Medium bodied (7.5% ABV) with white apple, pear and melon upfront. Mid-body shows noticeably higher density and depth with white peach, white pineapple and mango. The fruit qualities are only starting to emerge from behind a wall of tart qualities and acidity. Nine years young and this is still vibrant, even electric especially towards the back. As it warms, shows ever increasing richness and depth. It's never overly sweet, which is one of the elements that makes it so hard to resist at this stage. Finishes with tart citrus, acidity and minerals. Peak is still several years into the future with significant life beyond. I was hoping (expecting?) this wine to show well, but it cleared expectations by a good margin. I will certainly buy more of this if I run across it.

September 12, 2018 - Pichon Lalande Dinner (Racquet Club - Chicago IL): Baked apple, honeycomb and tropical hints with good acidity to support the sweetness on moderately long finish.

October 3, 2015 - Superb acid-sugar balance. Light-footed for an Auslese. Very well-balanced, quite long. Very pretty. Really good stuff. $44.

March 31, 2014 - JJ Prum - 2012 Range (Sydney, Australia): Spiced orange, pear and some tinned pineapple aromas. Very good honeyed fruit provides the weight with enough acidity to keep up. Nice but seems closed and lacks some of the excitement of the other Auslese for now.
