July 25, 2021 - bummer - slightly premoxed - so the bottle was just off in every dimension

February 5, 2021 - Terrific. Great white stone fruit, white flowers and lemon with PYCM reduction on the nose. I love the reductive nose overlay- it seems to seep into the mouthful and gives the acidity a twinge of pleasant bitterness that heightens the fruit and cut of the wine. This is a pretty gold color with no signs of age. Everything is in harmony and the fruit seems at its peak perhaps? But this can last another few years but why wait? Enjoy this now. Yum!

January 2, 2021 - While not quite the same shocking anise note in my bottle a year ago (or a bottle three years before that) there remains a savory quality to PYCM's 2012 Champs Gains that I don't find appealing coupled with an austerity to the palate I can only speculate as to the cause – perhaps excess phenolic from a harsh pressing? Three bottles over four years, all different provenance. Blind, I would not call this Chardonnay let alone PYCM.

November 23, 2020 - Decanted 45 minutes before drinking. Beautiful yellow/gold color, subtle tropical tones mixed with the recognizable PYCM lemon zest and subtle reductive notes. The palate was closed at start but with some air it's full and long. The is so much structure, complexity and depth and the length is incredible. Super wine, still on the young side.

September 7, 2019 - Hard wine, lacking depth and not worth the price.
