December 26, 2023 - Fill and cork looked good on this bottle. Double decanted for sediment — plenty in the last couple of ounces — then poured around cellar temp.

This bottle was over the hill with lots of leather, fennel, and cherry on the nose and a largely prune-y, dried out palate.

December 18, 2022 - This pours medium garnet in the glass, medium bricking. Perfect bottle, high fill. Cork only with light staining. On first pour the nose on this is just lovely, but with a few hours of air is become insanely powerful and complex. Aromas are of light roast coffee, a touch of toffee, light petrol, white pepper, dried spiced orange peel, a touch of brine, toasted cardamom, mustard seed, crushed granite, dried strawberry, and thyme blossom. The palate enters with a silky texture, any remaining low tannin buried by lovely red fruit and orange peel, turning to medium plus acid and a lengthy finish showing orange pith, lovely spice and mineral components. Absolutely no heat here. I suspect the cooler vintage has done wonders for keeping this wine restrained while the winemaking and in particular the provenance of this particular bottle is simply great. A diamond in the CdP rough and a sensational experience. Having drank a number of wines from the Rayas stable this could definitely fit in among those peers.

September 16, 2021 - Same as last bottle; lots of blood and iodine, some sour cherry, at the end of its peak.

May 6, 2021 - Meaty, rusty, bloody, slightly feral with poky acidity. Works nicely with grilled steak, chimichurri, romesco potatoes, but I wouldn't hold it against you if it wasn't your thing.

February 6, 2021 - Dark fruit (cherry, black cherry), spice, garrigue, slight olive, earth, good acidity. Lingering finish. Really enjoyable.
