October 5, 2019 - Pepper, bjørnebær, eucalyptus. Litt røde bær, bra lengde, fylde, trøkk og lang ettersmak.

February 16, 2018 - A bit of perhaps Brett, which fades on aeration. Definitely ready, and might be past due.

February 9, 2015 - Dark, fully opaque black cherry color that turns slightly purple towards the rim. Quite dry and savory nose with aromas of crushed peppercorns, tart and crunchy dark berries, some smoky reduction, a little bit of animal funk, a hint of ripe blackberries and a sanguine touch of iron. The wine is dry yet obviously quite ripe and pretty full-bodied with moderately high acidity, some stuffy reductive character and pretty pure flavors of ripe blackberries, peppery spice, some sour cherry bitterness, a little bit of gamey blood and a hint of liquorice. The structure relies more on the acidity than on the firm but rather gentle medium tannins. The finish is dry, quite mineral and rather noticeably bitter with more pronounced tannic grip than in the midpalate. There are savory flavors of black pepper, gamey meaty character, some fresh and crunchy blackberries and crowberries, a little bit of sour cherry and a hint of gravelly minerality in the aftertaste.

A classic Northern Rhône Syrah that is leaning more towards on the bitter, dry and savory than on the ripe, sweet and extracted style. Shows good weight for a St. Joseph with tannins that seem quite soft at first - apparently quite typical for 2011 - but which grow in grip and intensity towards the end of the aftertaste. Overall the style feels enjoyably pure and fruit-forward at this point with no apparent emphasis on the oak character, which is nice. The subtle reduction suggests that this wine really could use some more age in a cellar. Let it breathe for some while in a decanter, if opened now. Nice stuff. A bit pricey at 32,56€, but not prohibitively so.
