Community Tasting Notes 3

November 2, 2014 - More on the fresh sweet berry side of things than tannic, so it works well with food, which would help to cover up the medicinal underbelly and short finish.

March 13, 2014 - Not as tasty as the 2011. Light-bodied. Not enough fruit to offset the tannins, nothing else redeemed this wine.

June 19, 2013 - Piedmont 2013, Day 3 - Visit to Giuseppe Cortese (Rabajà, Babaresco, Piedmont, Italy): Vinified and aged in stainless steel like the Langhe Chardonnay that we started with, this was clearly meant as an easy-drinking wine. The nose was really perfumed and aromatic nose, wafting out the glass in sweet drifts of violets, bright cherry, almost maraschino aromas, with a little trail of smoke running behind. The palate was very simple, very easy-going, with a spicy, minerally attack opening up into a midpalate that was completely dominated by sweet cherries and berries riding along some very soft tannins. The short finish ended in a touch of bittersweet herbs. This was pretty well-balanced, nicely pure, but ultimately very simple. A decent quaffer perhaps, but that was just about it.
