November 18, 2022 - Smoky bouquet with autumn and forest floor impressions. On the palate juicy acidity and beautiful and well dosed oak. Beautiful wine.

October 26, 2020 - Decanted (modest dusty sediment), then served and enjoyed over three hours. Brown edges were a caution sign, and initially this wine was tight, lean and tannic. Nevertheless, after 2+ hours this started to really open up to reveal wonderful "tomacco", leather, and a rusticity that produced refined, tannic fruit back to the Pliocene Era. No joke - the trick to this wine is slowly allowing it to open no matter how long or what method is required! I think this wine has another 10 years of healthy development!

June 17, 2020 - I dropped off the 2 bottles at a friends a few days before with the ask to slow oxed all day then into a decanter about 1 hr before dinner. I was told that the bottles were opened at 12 noon, but not sure. To me thats just not enough time for a wine to emerge from a 13 year sleep. I have been drinking a lot of my older Brunellos and Barolo's (1997-2007) during quarantine. This was the first '07's. To me they need a few more years. Nice rusty red color with slight bricking at the edges. At first the nose was restrained and not much there, but as I swirled it a bit some muddled fruit and cinamon emerges. Still a bit tanic which did smooth out over the evening. As we drank thru the bottles, the wine emerged a bit more with hints of strawberries, baking spices, cedar, flowers and earth/tobbaco. I would have loved to let it sit overnight and see it then, but it was at a friends for our first social distanced outdoor dinner. I wont give it a rating as I'm just not sure that it was given enough time. The other older wines that we have been drinking have been really good to spectacular with enough time. Sad that these were my only two bottles of this so I can't revisit. Good drink but not what I wouyld have expected.
