  November 21, 2022 - Spicy nose but swampy with coffee grounds and some rotting cabbage. Tastes better than it smells, but it's hard to ignore that nose.

  November 19, 2022 - Served blind. Another wine that suffered from the stiff competition, and perhaps from palate fatigue, being a latecomer to the tasting. I felt it was better on the palate than on the nose. The second wine of the tasting that had a cabbage-like or cruciferous vegetal aroma. Also, coffee, red fruit. A bit of alcohol although not inordinate.

  June 8, 2016 - New World-Beef Stew Night (Chateau Davyd): Tasted blind. Pop and poured. Drank over 2.5 hours.
  Appearance is clear, deep intensity, inky blackish ruby colour. Legs.
  Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of nothing but licorice dominating and sweet spices. Developed.
  On the palate, dry, high acidity, high alcohol (14.5%), fine high tannins, full body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with flavours of licorice, minty menthol, white pepper spice, blackcurrant, cassis. Long finish.
  Good quality. I was guessing an 8-10 year old Napa Cabernet Sauvignon.
  Smooth pleasing mouth-feel. But not a balanced wine as the licorice is too dominant. Drink up, unlikely to improve with further ageing.
  Debut vintage. Fruit sourced from Coombsville, Yountville and the Oak Knoll districts.

  April 14, 2016 - Very good cabernet sauvignon, clearly California from nose to end. Drink now.
